Simms Cross Primary School
Welcome to Reception
This term in Reception we will be investigating the question ‘Who can I ask for help?’ using the ‘Supertato’ story by Sue Hendra.
Throughout this topic the children will be thinking about people who help us, real heroes and superheroes. They will be sharing information through speaking and listening activities and beginning to write for a purpose, creating their own simple sentences using books as stimulation.
We have lots of engaging activities planned including a school trip to Stockley Farm and a visit from the local fire service.
- P.E- Friday
- Let’s get messy!
On a Friday the children will explore Maths, Literacy and other curriculum areas through expressive art and design. The children will be immersed in a range of activities and experiences to allow them to explore the curriculum in a much more practical and sensory way whilst expressing their creativity.
The children can come to school wearing their own clothes; we recommend that children come in old clothes as they are likely to get messy.
School reading books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays so please ensure your child brings their book and reading diary to school on these days.
Please read regularly with your child and complete the reading diary so their book can be changed.
